Artist Joan Hall takes printmaking beyond the paper in her large, sculptural forms. During a studio tour in April 2020, she explains: “Being a sailer, I’ve always been interested in water, and a lot of my earlier work had to do with motion and movement… because I find that looking down through water is very much like the way the Japanese sense of perspective in scrolls—its not a traditional two point perspective… its more sculptural.”

Mary Jameson welcomes you into her studio for a virtual tour. She explains: “I’ve used seaweed in my art-making for over 10 years, wistfully observing kelp as it undulated in the tides around me and wanting to incorporate it  into my work but not knowing quite how. Kelp’s leathery composition made it impossible to embed into paper on its own, and in a dried state  its reaction to adhesive was to shrink and shrivel, so I left it alone.”
