For the environmental educational component of the Jamestown Storm Drain Art and Education Project, the University of Rhode Island’s Outreach Center’s Youth STEAM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics] Education Coordinator, Dr. Amy Cabaniss, will lead this five-week workshop series.
Dr. Cabaniss will lead weekly (1.5 hour) after-school sessions through hands-on activities, field activities (weather-permitting), demonstrations and projects related to the water cycle, the function and importance of storm drains, and the impact of harmful pollutants making their way from the drains to the ocean.
THIS PROGRAM IS FREE! The Jamestown Storm Drain Project has been made possible by grants from the Jamestown Education Foundation, a RI Legislative Grant, along with other local grants and the collaborative efforts of The Town of Jamestown, The Jamestown Conservation Commission, The Jamestown Arts Center, and the URI Outreach Center’s Youth STEAM Education Programs.
