Summer Creative Arts Camp

The JAC Summer Arts Camp gives children the opportunity to work and play cooperatively as they develop their own natural gifts in expressive arts. Each week children will explore a different theme and create a play. As active members in each production the children will write scripts and music, design costumes and sets, as well as act, sing and dance. Every week will end with a performance that celebrates the children's creativity in their supportive community.

Weekly Themes

Tropical Rain Forest

Children will explore the rain forest's animals, ecosystem, plants, cultures around the world, and the songs of birds.

Pantomime in Black and White

Children will see a Charlie Chaplin film, create a camera obscura and shadow puppets.

Italian Renaissance

children will learn about the paintings, sculpture, architecture, and inventions of this age, and design their own living painting.

Magic and Fairies

Children will create their own fairy costumes and personalities, as they explore the world of big and small, as well as the world of insects.

Egypt

Children will learn about visual art as language, the figure in profile, and the art of jewelry, as they study the land of the pharoahs.

Under the Sea

Children will create an imaginary ocean world of creatures both real and mythical, as they learn about the ocean's language of vibration and song, water color painting, and sea life patterns.
