PARt

Choreographer Ali Kenner Brodsky and musician MorganEve Swain team up once again to bring you PARt, a piece about conversations in and amongst words, movements, music and visual landscapes.

PARt  is an evening-length work which will stimulate your senses. As you enter  into the gallery you will be greeted by prints designed by artist Cyrus Highsmith, you will be enveloped by the sounds of The Huntress and Holder of Hands and dazzled by the graceful dancers of ali kenner brodsky & co.

The central theme of PARt is connection. Dancers Ali Kenner Brodsky, Meghan Carmichael, Amanda DelPrete, Jessica Howard and Sarah Osterhus engage in movement and verbal dialogues. The work is crafted to shift the audience’s focus from woman to woman, their individual internal thoughts revealed through the subtle nuances of a gesture.

MorganEve Swain’s compositions encapsulate the essence of each dancers’ emotional journey. She then translates it into a musical score. She creates raw, emotional material, pulled from experience in loss and growth. It flows alongside the dancers, rather than punctuating them, so that the music and the dance are two working parts of a larger machine.

Swain’s band, The Huntress and Holder of Hands, will perform live at each performance.

Also contributing to PARt, is visual artist and 2015 Gerrit Noordzij Prize recipient Cyrus Highsmith who will devise the graphics for the piece. Highsmith will create a series of abstract prints, which will be displayed in the gallery surrounding the performers.

We are thrilled that New York City dress company, Leota, will be outfitting the dancers!
