March 17 – April 21, 2017
In 2016 we received two incredible grants that will allow us to complete
several major renovations to our space and upgrade our film
equipment. This will enhance our ability to serve our community and meet our
mission to Engage, Enrich and Inspire our community through
extraordinary arts and educational experiences.
In the first round of a highly competitive state-wide selection
process, the JAC was awarded a State Cultural Facilities Grant through the
Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA). Funding from this grant
has been matched by generous donors to allow us to complete all the projects
on our list. You may have already noticed that the exterior of the
Arts Center is a beautiful new color!

While the Gallery is closed we will complete the following projects:
• Build an insulated storage addition
• Install air conditioning in the Gallery/ Performing Arts Space
• Install a new high-efficiency heating system
• Replace the large garage doors in the Gallery/ Performing Arts Space

A huge Thank you to our partner Estes/Twombly Architects
& Peter Twombly for their continued dedication to the JAC.
Thank you also to the generous local businesses who
are helping to make all of this possible:
In addition to this incredible facilities grant, we are also
thrilled to announce funding from the Champlin Foundations
in the amount of $18,500 and a $2,000 grant from a local donor that will
allow us to purchase and install new sound and projection equipment for our
popular film screenings, talks, and multi-media events.
We have already purchased and installed a beautiful new 24′ x 24′ screen
(L-R: Karen Conway, Exhibitions Director; Tessa Freas Rodgers, Marketing Manager;
Lisa Utman Randall, Executive Director; & Seamus Hames, Arts Education Coordinator)
All of these important upgrades will make the JAC more energy efficient,
aesthetically pleasing, and state of the art. We are excited to
expand our programming and grow our audiences!
We are grateful to our many individual donors
and to the thousands of people who attend classes & camps,
enjoy film screenings, exhibition openings, concerts,
dance performances, talks and more.
